ESF Award for B.E.A.T Plastics
Banff Environmental Action team learnt this week that they had been successful in obtaining an ESF award totalling £131,000 B.E.A.T will now be able to offer specific training to people with disabilities based in the plastics recovery and recycling project at their Macduff base.

BEAT Plastics Recycling Project provides support to people who face economic, rural and social exclusion. The project has been specifically designed to address the difficulty people with disabilities face in entering the labour market and offers,
  • Integrated guidance and counselling.
  • Vocational and core skills training.
  • Work experience.
  • Jobsearch and aftercare.

Adverts have been successfully placed in the local job centre and within local disability projects. The process of recruitment is continuous and 6 new beneficiaries have recently been signed on to the plastics project. 5 beneficiaries have now completed the orientation process and currently working on developing individual action plans. On site theory training has now moved onto Fife Street Adult Learning Centre where beneficiaries are working in conjunction with Banff & Buchan College of Further Education on Information and Computer Technology training and skills.
