New Machines Reduce Transport Costs.

The purchase and installation of new machinery at the B.E.A.T plastics project has increased efficiency and has  reduced storage and transport costs.  The machines enable B.E.A.T to granulate plastic and store in bulk sacks. This allows B.E.A.T to maximise the volume/weight ratio when transporting plastics to a reprocessing plant. (03.04.03)

B.E.A.T Celebration This year B.E.A.T celebrate their 10th Anniversary and intend to do so in style with a meal and dance at the Fyfe Lodge Hotel. It is hoped that friends past present and new will join in the anniversary celebrations.

grampianlogo.gif (1451 bytes)sarah mack.jpg (12276 bytes) News Presenter and Reporter Sarah Mack recently visited the B.E.A.T project to film part of our plastics recycling operation.
Project members were filmed loading a bailer with PET plastic bottles prior to crushing and bailing. The B.E.A.T project has for sometime now recycled plastics which it collects and bales for onward transportation to a plastic recycler.

The film featured in a number of news stories the following day screened by Grampian TV  to highlight Aberdeenshire Council's launch of their plastic's recycling initiative. (14.02.02)

Determination and resilience - Key to the success of the B.E.A.T Project.

Following the Christmas and New Year break the B.E.A.T project team returned to work full of enthusiasm and ready to deal with the backlog of cardboard left over from the festive season. It has therefore been disappointing that the project has suffered from a number of machinery breakdowns over the last few weeks. The most serious of the breakdowns has been the temporary loss of the  2 Intimus 550 shredding machines which broke down within a few days of each other. Whilst it would be easy to become despondent over the loss of our processing capacity, B.E.A.T are more determined than ever to have the machines up and running again as soon as possible to maintain stocks of animal bedding to our customers. (19.02.02)

....and the BEAT goes on and on and on..... Sales of baled animal bedding made from recycled paper and cardboard continue to increase. On average for the month of November BEAT processed, baled and sold 3.5 tonnes of shredded paper and cardboard per week. (30.11.01)
8,500Kgs B.E.A.T are delighted to be able to report that in the last 6 months they have collected, baled and recycled 8.5 Tonnes of plastic. (30.11.01)

Representatives from B.E.A.T regularly visit other local organisations and groups to provide information and advice on recycling and conservation. On the 14th November a presentation was made to a large audience at the Blairgowrie Adult Resource Centre, where they are set to further develop their own Can-Able project .

sangslogo2.jpg (10962 bytes) SANGS Ltd have supported B.E.A.T in securing an additional lease on two  further industrial units on the Macduff Industrial Estate. The increased storage and processing capacity will enable B.E.A.T to dramatically develop the  B.E.A.T plastics recycling service. (10.11.01)

CONGRATULATIONS to John and George who were successful in obtaining their Fork Lift Operators Licence. Judging by the looks of concentration as they demonstrated the safe handling of the forklift under the watchful gaze of the assessor this was no easy task. (01.11.01)
